Across Andes will be our first bikepacking challenge and the first time we’ll go through the Andes, many times we’ve cycle on its chilean side, but this will be the first time we will leave our country cycling through the mighty Andes. And it will be at 4.780 m. (15.682 ft.) above the sea level, one of the highest international border crossing roads in the world ( 87 m. higher than Khunjerab in Pakistan ), we’ll be getting to its peak after a 170km climb with an average of 2,6% and a 23,6% max.

Although the Andes crossing may steal all the attention due to its humungousness and difficulties, the road to get to it its filled with the beauty of the central northern Chile, kilometers of gravel roads, old tunnels, small and traditional towns, it even goes through a national natural reserve ( Las Chinchillas National Reserve ), the route was designed to avoid highways which makes it safer too.

For us it’s an honor to be one of the duo teams that will be racing this beautyful route, it is indeed a challenge, it will be hard, there’ll be pain, for sure, but as the old saying goes “without pain there’s no glory”
